Publication Ethics

Grand Asian Journal of Food and Nutrition (GAJFN) strictly holds publication ethics as one of its core principles and policy significance. To ensure compliance, it undertakes a double-blind peer-review policy for all articles to validate the integrity and novelty of research content in food science, nutrition, and agricultural sciences. The peer review process adopted by GAJFN acts as a filter to increase the quality of research reported, and also facilitates authors in removing any errors or gaps mistakenly overlooked in the manuscript, making the research more applicable in a real-world, evidence-based sense. GAJFN adopts the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines on publication ethics, outlined as under:

Authors' responsibilities

  • Submitted material/data must be based on original research conducted by the authors themselves.
  • Only unpublished manuscripts/data should be submitted.
  • It is unethical to submit a manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously.
  • Authors will furnish a certificate at the time of paper submission to the effect that:
    1. The manuscript is not being considered elsewhere for publication.
    2. All authors have agreed/approved the publication of this manuscript.
    3. The relevant institution has approved the submission, if required.
    4. The article is based on research conducted under a research program or research project at the concerned institution/university.
    5. The article has been derived from a Thesis/Dissertation (where applicable).
  • Any conflict of interest must be clearly stated.
  • The source of data used in the manuscript, or financial support rendered by any organization for conducting the research, must be acknowledged.
  • All errors or shortcomings identified in the manuscript after submission must be swiftly communicated to the Editorial Office.
  • Details of each author's contribution to the submitted article must be provided
  • Authors should strictly follow the time frame/schedule given by the Editorial Office during the review process, and comply with all applicable food safety, nutritional research, and human/animal subject ethical requirements where relevant to the study.

Reviewers' responsibilities

Reviewers are expected to evaluate a manuscript through critical and comparative analysis, and most importantly for the integrity and novelty of the research work, keeping in view the following principles:

  • All manuscripts are reviewed impartially, fairly, and without bias regarding gender, race, ethnicity, religion, citizenship, political affiliation, or institutional origin of the author(s).
  • Any conflict of interest observed during the review process must be communicated to the Editor.
  • All information/data in the manuscript is the personal property of the authors and must be kept confidential until it is finally processed.
  • Any information that may be grounds for rejection of the manuscript must be communicated to the Editor in detail.
  • Reviewers are morally bound to provide impartial, unprejudiced observations and to uphold professional standards, particularly where claims relate to food safety, nutritional efficacy, or health outcomes.
  • Reviewers are expected to follow the time frame/schedule set by the Editorial Office for vetting the article.

Editors' responsibilities

  • All manuscripts are processed impartially, fairly, and without bias regarding gender, race, ethnicity, religion, citizenship, or political affiliation of the author(s).
  • Information pertaining to manuscripts is kept confidential until publication; the identities of reviewers and authors are kept secret to maintain the blind review policy.
  • Any conflict of interest observed pertaining to a manuscript must be disclosed to both the author and the reviewer.
  • The Editorial Board takes responsibility for final decisions on submitted manuscripts, based on reviewers' evaluations, Editorial Board policies, and legal safeguards against plagiarism, libel, and copyright infringement with particular vigilance given the region-specific and public-health relevance of food and nutrition research published by GAJFN.
